Only good thing about this campsite is the location, very easy to get into Paris by train but that is it. The pitches are small, uneven and muddy. It rained when we were there and our pitch turned into a mud pit, clearly no money has been spent on landscaping or drainage. The electric went off 2 nights in a row, apparently this happens regularly in bad weather but the owners have failed to address the issue. The toilets were dirty and smelly, never seen them getting cleaned the whole time we were there. The restaurant was ok but under staffed so you had to wait an age for service. It is clear that the philosophy of this campsite is spend minimum money for maximum profit.
As a regular traveller with ACSI we found this site one of the worst we had been to, the toilets in shower block three were blocked every day, they would not open the showers in this block, so we had to use the showers in block two which were cold, and when it rained the electricity went off and this in off season so goodness knows what it will be like in high season, also the pitches were far to close together as this site is in a wooded area if there was a fire this could prove very dangerous. who ever inspected this site for ACSI could not have done the inspection properly and needs to go back and do it again, the only redeeming factor is its position close to the palace of Versailles and a short train journey to Paris
will certainly not visit again or recommend this site to others.
I have been to a very large number of ACSI sites over the years, and have returned to many. I will NOT be returning to this one. We arrived at mid-day at the very end of April (29th) so not exactly high season. The attitude of the senior member of staff at check in harked back to a 1950’s U.K. seaside landlady, we, the paying customers, were clearly simply an annoyance ESPECIALLY as we had the temerity to arrive before 2pm.Reception made a huge issue about trying to find us a vacant pitch We had booked, online, at the end of February so they knew we were coming AND the size of our caravan. They eventually “found” us what they “thought” was a vacant pitch but were unsure if the previous occupants had left! and even if they HAD left we were told. In no,uncertain terms that we were not permitted to occupy it until 2pm, yes really!! Even though the site was clearly far from full. When I went and checked the pitch was indeed empty, but they absolutely INSISTED we wait until 2pm to occupy it. I have a large caravan and car (12.3m total length) and I was advised to park in the parking area at the far end of the site until 2pm. Something told me to go and check FIRST. Good job I did, the parking area was right at the end of a dead end road! It was minuscule and it would take probably a 7 point turn to get just a car round! (I have an HGV licence so manoeuvring is second nature)
Then we come to the pitches....... They are all under trees, there is NO grass to be seen just very fine dust (don’t forget this is at the end of April and right at the start of their ACSI period) so you will either have dust OR, if there is any rain, slimy mud to contend with. The pitches are pretty uneven and not exactly level either. There is just ONE single water tap, and one waste water disposal point for the entire campsite, it’s actually a motorhome service point!
The showers are clean, tidy and quite new but there are not that many so you MIGHT have to wait for one to be free at the height of the season (but only after 2pm!!)
Onsite cafe serves pizza etc and probably more at the height of the season. Wi-fi is FREE and of a reasonable speed. It’s pretty peaceful as well.
So to sum up this is NOT what I would class as a premier, or even good, campsite, They are clearly just relying on the fact that it’s near to the palace at Versailles and Paris itself, customer service appears not be high on the list of priorities as far as the staff I encountered are concerned.
So from an experienced travellers viewpoint there are serious shortcomings attached to this particular site. It IS however very well placed for the Palace at Versailles and Paris itself.
we stayed here for 3 nights September 2016. Unfortunately all the camping card pitches were tiny, and the campsite itself is on a slope, with many trees around. We had a struggle getting level with our 7.5 metre motorhome. The pitch ended up costing us twice as much as the ACSI price! The reception staff seemed very interested in one thing only, extracting as much money from us as possible. We twice had to correct their trying to overcharge us. Once pitched it was nice and peaceful, the pool was lovely. we had a pizza in the restaurant which was very good. The site is very convenient for Paris, with a 10 minute walk to the train station.
Very disappointed to be charged for 2 + motiorhome our of season. The bar etc. Are OK but we were told all ACSI pitches full. Once we had paid for a comfort + pitch (no water but a rotting bench) we found a lot of the small pitches empty but a lot more of the expensive ones full. Site only seems interested in selling overpriced pitches and tickets. Won’t come back again. Clearly use the ACSI as a promotion to get people in.
Please do take note of the favorable comments from other members.
The Pool, Reception and cafeteria areas are good and are the only areas of the site that will allow WiFi connection.
As mentioned by others the 3 toilet blocks are first rate and kept very clean.
Geographically the Site is very convenient to the Palace but difficult to access from the town. The town roads are barely wide enough to allow my single axle Bailey Unicorn and tow-car to pass. On arrival at the site there is no instruction to park away from the security gate so it always becomes blocked while newcomers negotiate their pitch and paying arrangements.
Note: It is important to realize that ACSI Membership (in low season) only allows us use of certain pitches on the ACSI low rate terms. So called 'preferred' pitches are not available to us and come at a considerably higher cost. The 'posh' pitches have nothing much going for them except a crude wooden picnic table.
Within the site the roadways that feed off the main access road are very un-user friendly and without considerable care being taken can result in (serious) vehicle and caravan damage. Our allocated pitch 23 was not accessible to my rig and the uneven approach track made contact with the underside rear leg that 'dug in' wiping out the plastic footplate. In desperation I pitched on 79 which was too small and not large enough for me to erect my awning or park my car.
Having been there for a week I conclude that the site is unsuitable for caravans longer than 7 meters and larger tow-cars. Some medium sized camping-car vehicles were also caught out by the irregular terrain.
I wrote this before we left Huttopia Versailles and I was dreading the route away from here.
Despite the draw of the Palace with good accessibility I shall not be coming back.
Site is excellent for catching train to Paris and Versailles. Good facilities but pitches very uneven, Nearly all are under trees and we didnt like the water and waste facility (only one) being sited together - not hygenic. Spent nights counting the acorns thumping on our roof! 79 ! Staff were excellent. Toilets too were excellent and modern.
We camped there in April 2016. The facilities were clean and well maintained. Be sure to order the fresh baguettes. We didn't hear the train noise and the pitch we had was flat. WiFi was only available at the reception area and restaurant and was very slow.
Great location for visiting Versailles palace - only 5 minute drive. Site is in woodland so pitches are a little uneven and some of the roadways are a bit narrow. Pitches on different levels so quite private. Lots of shade from the mature trees. Staff very helpful and friendly. Pool looked lovely and bar area overlooking very nice to sit out.
Good campsite with a great location, 20 minutes by train to Paris City Centre.
Pitches are a bit hap hazard and not clearly marked so it's a bit of a chore to find a decent pitch with electricity.
Once settled everything else is great, nice pool and a Bar serving excellent Pizza's & home made French fries. Free Wifi also at the bar / reception area.
Toilets / Showers were excellent and in perfect working order during our stay.
Due to close proximity to the train station, there is a little bit of background noise from the trains, Day & Night - wasn't a problem for us but worth mentioning.
The reception sells tickets for the trains and the palace of Versailles.
Lots within walking distance. Shops 3 Mins, Train Station 5 Mins, Versailles Palace 35 mins.
